Building a Course

Courses let you build something your members watch and work through — lessons with videos and notes, grouped into chapters.

Everything starts from the Courses list. Create a course, then fill it with content while it stays a draft.

Draft and published

A new course is a Draft, and only you can see it. Members see nothing until you publish.

That means you can build a course over days or weeks without anyone watching it half-finished. When it is ready, publish it, and it appears for the members whose access includes it.

You can unpublish just as easily if you want to take it back and rework it.

Chapters and lessons

A lesson is one thing to watch or read. A chapter is a group of lessons.

You do not have to use chapters. A short course can be a flat list of lessons, and that reads better than a single chapter wrapped around everything. Add chapters when the course is long enough that members would otherwise lose their place.

Both chapters and lessons can be moved up and down, so the order is yours to change at any time.

What goes in a lesson

Each lesson can carry a video, written notes, or both. Your members see the video first and the notes underneath, so use the notes for the things people come back for — the steps, the numbers, the summary.

Lesson length is shown to members as they browse, which helps them pick something that fits the time they have.

The course card

Give the course a name, a short description and a cover image. That is what members see on the card before they open it, so the description is worth a moment — it answers "is this the one I want?".

Who can see it

A published course is visible to members whose access includes Course. You set that up in Offerings, where you decide what each thing you sell unlocks.
