Loyalty Setup

The Loyalty module runs a stamp card or a points programme for your customers, with a digital card they keep on their phone.

Setting it up the first time

The first time you open Loyalty there is no programme yet, so the page opens a short setup instead of the usual tabs. It walks you through naming the programme, deciding how customers earn, choosing the reward, and designing the card.

Your answers are saved as you go. If you close the tab halfway through, the setup picks up where you left off rather than starting again.

How customers earn

You choose one of two:

  • Stamps — a customer earns one stamp per qualifying visit, and a full card earns the reward.
  • Points — a customer earns points as they spend, and the reward unlocks at a threshold.

Give this one some thought. It is asked during setup and it is not one of the fields in the Settings tab afterwards, so if you later want to move a running programme from one to the other, ask your developer rather than expecting a switch.

The reward

Set the number that completes a card and what completing it earns — "10 stamps, free coffee" or "500 points, £5 off". Both appear on the customer's card, so write the reward the way you would say it to them.

Designing the card

Pick a template and a colour palette, or set your own colours, and upload your logo. The card can be the usual landscape shape or square. A preview updates as you choose, showing the card as your customer will see it, so there is no need to save and go looking.

Changing it later

The Settings tab holds the programme name, the number that completes a card, the reward, and the minimum minutes between stamps. Design changes are made on the card designer.

Minutes between stamps

This is the setting people ask about most, and it is worth knowing before a customer asks you.

A programme will not let the same customer earn twice inside a short window — thirty minutes by default. It exists so a card cannot be filled in one visit by scanning repeatedly. If a member says a stamp "did not work" moments after their last one, this is almost always why, and the stamp is refused rather than lost. Raise or lower the window in Settings to match how your business actually runs; a coffee shop and a gym want different numbers here.
