General Questions
What is Helm?
Helm is your website dashboard — a private control panel for managing your website without writing code. Some businesses are set up by a developer who builds their site; others already have a website and sign up for Helm themselves.
Can my customers see the dashboard?
No. Your dashboard is private and sits behind a login. Customers only ever see your public website.
Do my changes go live as I type?
No, and that is deliberate. Your edits are saved as a draft that only your team can see, and nothing reaches your website until someone presses Go Live. You can leave a page half-finished for a week without a visitor ever seeing it.
Is the dashboard available on mobile?
Yes. It works on smartphones, tablets and desktops, and it is built for phones rather than shrunk onto them.
What browsers are supported?
Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Internet Explorer is not supported.
How many people can access the dashboard?
There is no limit on team members. What differs is what each one can do — owners, editors and viewers have different levels of access, so you can add someone without giving them everything. See Permissions.
What happens if a payment fails?
Nothing sudden. You have a week to sort it out, and during that week everything carries on as normal.
If it is still unresolved after that, the dashboard stops accepting changes. You can still sign in and read everything — your content, your history, your customers — because the work is yours whether or not this month has been paid for. Your website stays online for visitors throughout. Once payment goes through, editing resumes exactly where you left it.
Can I get my content out?
Yes. Everything you have published is visible in the dashboard and your media library holds your original uploads. If you want a copy of something specific, ask whoever looks after your account.
Who do I contact for help?
If your dashboard has a chat bubble, that is the fastest route — it goes to the person who looks after your account.
Otherwise: if a developer set up your account, contact them for anything to do with your dashboard or website. If you signed up yourself, you can reach the Helm team at [email protected].
