Your Media library holds every image and video you have uploaded, ready to drop into any part of your site.

In Media, click the upload area or drag files onto it — up to 25 at a time.

Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP. Videos: MP4, WebM and MOV.

Large videos are sent in parts automatically, so a file too big for a single upload still goes through without you doing anything differently. See Storage Limits for how each format affects your allowance.

Why SVG is not accepted

SVG is the one image format deliberately turned away, and it is worth knowing why so it does not look like an oversight.

An SVG is not really a picture — it is a document that can carry code, and that code would run inside your dashboard. Refusing them removes that risk. If your designer sent you a logo as an SVG, ask them for a PNG version; for a logo it looks identical.

Files are checked by their contents

Every upload is identified by what is actually inside it rather than by its name. Renaming a file to end in .jpg does not make it an image, and it will be refused. If a file is rejected and you are sure of the format, it is usually a file that was converted or exported oddly rather than anything you did wrong.

Using media in your content

When you are editing an image or video field, click the field to upload something new or pick from what you already have. Video tiles play a preview, so you can check you have the right clip before choosing it.

Uploading through a field puts the file in your library too — there is no need to upload to Media first and then go looking for it.

Copying a link

The copy icon on any file gives you its web address, which is useful if you want to use the same picture somewhere outside your dashboard.

Worth knowing: that address is public. It is not guessable, but anyone you give it to can open it without signing in, and the same is true of any image already shown on your site. Treat Media as material for your website rather than as private storage — a photograph of a document or anything else you would not want seen does not belong here.
