Orders

When a customer places an order on your website it appears in the Orders tab, giving you one place to look instead of several.

The list

Orders are listed newest first, 25 to a page, across all your customers together. Each row shows who placed it, when, the total and its status.

There are no filters on this tab. If you want one person's orders rather than everyone's, open them from Customers — their profile lists their own orders with the same detail.

Statuses

  • Pending — received, not yet confirmed
  • Confirmed — accepted and in progress
  • Fulfilled — completed and closed
  • Cancelled — cancelled by the customer or by your team

Not every order passes through all four. Which status an order starts in depends on how you take orders — some are confirmed the moment they arrive, others wait for you to accept them.

The reference

Every order carries its own reference. That is the handle you and the customer share: it is what they quote when they get in touch, and what they use to look the order up on your site alongside the email they ordered with, so nobody can read someone else's.

The record outlasts the account

An order stores the buyer's name and email as they were when it was placed, rather than only pointing at their account.

This is deliberate, and it is why your sales history stays intact when a customer account is closed or removed. The order remains readable, attributed and countable — you do not lose the record of a sale because the person behind it no longer has a login.

It also means orders can exist without an account at all, if your site takes orders from people who never signed up.

Changing an order

This tab is a record rather than a control panel. Orders are not edited here — where you accept, fulfil or cancel one depends on how your site takes them, and your developer will have set that up. What this tab guarantees is that whatever happens, there is a complete and searchable history of it in your dashboard.
